Disappointed, July 25, 2007 By WonderGirl (Las Vegas, NV United States) - See all my reviews The fact that this product is sweetened with Xylitol, which is a sugar alcohol, could cause problems for many people, including me. Sugar alcohols can cause painful gas and adominal upset. Since Joran Rubin is very much into solving intestinal problems for people with his Primal Defense (a wonderful product) it surprised me you would use a sugar alcohol in any of his products.
Plus this is not meant to be a meal replacement shake, it is a meal supplement. I believe it says that you should take it before or in between meals to make you less hungry, so you eat less. After I drank one of these I felt just as hungry as before. I like the Garden of Life supplements, but was very disappointed in this one. It made me wonder if it was designed by the same people. I threw two big jars of this stuff out.
Also Garden of Life is proud of the product "Goatein" which is protein powder that comes from goat's milk. Here is what they say about Goatein.

It's really the perfect meal, September 26, 2008 By I've been using this product for about three months now. I had used protein shake in the past and they always made me feel bloated. This is different, very different. It digests very easily, it's smooth, flavorful and best of all, you don't feel hungry for quite some time. I've used it as a breakfast substitute when I don't have the time to eat in the morning, and it's perfect. Highly recommended.

Love it but only with additions, September 15, 2007 By To be honest, I don't like it as is out of the container and prepared as directed. I add 8 oz non-fat milk, 1 tbs unsweetened cocoa, 2 tsp instant coffee, 1 tsp cinnamon for help with glucose control if you're familiar with cinnamon for that purpose--also enhances the taste, additional sweetener to taste (whatever sweetener you prefer), and 10 ice cubes. I blend it for about a minute in my high powered blender until it turns light brown. It gets fairly thick like a thick milk shake, and, to my taste, it's then quite tasty and filling.
