Much better than I expected, June 23, 2012 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Garden of Life Raw Organic Meal Packets, 30 Ounces (Health and Beauty) I'm not a person who normally buys this sort of product or even someone who eats all that healthy in general. But I told myself that if I stumbled across a "meal replacement" that had "everything" -- probiotics, superfoods, vitamins, etc. in it I'd give it a try. This RAW Meal from Garden of Life fits the bill better than anything else, so I order some. I really expected it to have the most foul taste ever... it certainly looks like green goop (it does congeal pretty quick). I expected to have to choke it down, then gag, and curse myself for having 9 more packets to try. Happily, the taste really isn't that bad. To me, it's sort of a mild chalky flavor with something, again mild, that's grass like. It's not offensive in the least. I could easily see myself making this a common breakfast item.

New Improved Taste and Convenient Pouch, March 28, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Garden of Life Raw Organic Meal Packets, 30 Ounces (Health and Beauty) Well, I've been waiting for Garden of LIfe to revamp their Raw Meal and my wish is their product! These convenient little pouches are awesome and I have them on prescription from Amazon as a nice healthy substitute for on the go meals. Unlike the previous flavor, it does great with just water but i like to mix them with whole coconut milk or pina colada mix or maybe some vanilla nut milks like almond, hemp or soy. Being an omnivore, however, I will from time to time throw it with some goat milk for a delicious wholesome treat and their awesome and real fast. I gotta think that even the environmental impact of the paper and cardboard is less than that big ol plastic tub. But for $35 you get 10 servings minus for $40 getting 17. But they are substantially more convenient unless you already have a method for transporting your servings of raw Meal with ya throughout the day. Being a student who is busy and needs some energy, I love love love Raw Meal and I'm glad they improved the... Read more
Use cold water and plug your nose, September 6, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase Pros:
- Keeps you satisfied for a _long_ time, easily 4-6 hours for both my partner and I. A true meal replacement.
- Stats are through the roof. I've never seen anything like it.
- Vegan-friendly, gluten-free.
- 2-minute meal.
Cons:
- Tastes awful.
- Reflex-inducing texture.
Tips to address the taste/texture:
- As with many things, plug your nose, then chug. Takes away 80% of the bite.
- Mix it with _very_ cold water, e.g., water sitting in the fridge overnight. It goes down much, much easier.
- Dilute with more water if it is still too strong/thick for your taste. Treat the labeled amount of water as merely a recommendation.
- Do _not_ let it sit. It will expand. Add to water, mix, and drink immediately. It takes only a few minutes for it to thicken considerably. You'll then have to add more water to make it palatable again, but you may end up with more liquid than you can drink in a sitting.
